There are a few possible reasons: 

Ensure you turn the cup clockwise until you hear an audible click onto the motor base. 

The blender may have overheated. Unplug the unit and allow it to cool for at least 15 minutes before plugging it back in.

Make sure the power cord is plugged into a working electrical socket. 

Ensure the cup and blade assembly are securely attached to the motor base. You should hear a ‘click’ when they are properly locked in place. 

This happens when: 

You have exceeded six consecutive blend cycles in a six-minute period. 

The unit has overheated. Unplug it and let it cool for at least 15 minutes before using it again. 

Check that you haven’t exceeded the MAX fill line on the cup. Overfilled cups put strain on the motor, which can increase noise levels.
