A side dish guaranteed to impress - perfect for holidays and dinner parties.

Ingredients

450g any variety of small potatoes
3 tbsp butter
2 cloves garlic, minced
3 tbsp plain flour
675ml whole milk
125g  shredded cheddar
125g shredded parmesan
2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper

Directions

Preheat oven to 180°C.

Using the slice disc, slice the potatoes 3-4 at a time until all are sliced.

Transfer the potato slices to a bowl and cover with water. Let these soak while preparing the sauce.

Heat a pan on the stove. Add the butter and garlic to the pan and sauté for 1 minute.

Add the flour to the pan and stir to combine. Next, add the milk to the pan and bring to simmer. Add in the cheese, salt and pepper.

Spread a single layer of potatoes on the bottom of an 8x8 pan and top with a layer of cheese sauce. Repeat the layers until you have used all potatoes and top with the remaining sauce.

Cover with foil and bake for 1 hour. At the 30 minute mark, remove foil and continue baking.

Cool for 10-15 minutes before serving.
